Called to Love: A Day to Reflect, Connect and Take Action

September 18, 2026

Saturday 10th October

Do you care deeply about our world and the people who are struggling, but sometimes wonder what more you can do? Perhaps you are already involved in supporting others and are looking for fresh inspiration, practical ideas, and encouragement.

Caritas Cardiff-Menevia invites everyone to "Called to Love", a special day of reflection, conversation and shared learning on Saturday 10 October 2026 at St Mary's Catholic Church, Bridgend.

Inspired by Pope Leo XIV's exhortation Dilexi Te, this event will explore how we can become more effective agents of God's love for the most vulnerable and marginalised people in society. It is an opportunity to come together with others who share a desire to put faith into action and to respond to the needs of our communities.

The day will feature keynote presentations from:

  • Archbishop Mark O'Toole
  • Raymond Friel OBE, CEO of the Catholic Social Action Network
  • Delyth Jewell MS, advocate for social care, mental health and human dignity

Alongside the keynote talks, participants will be able to choose from a range of workshops led by experts in their fields. There will also be plenty of opportunities to share experiences, exchange ideas, build new connections and learn from the inspiring work already taking place across the Archdiocese.

Whether you are involved in parish outreach, social action projects, community support, or simply want to explore how God may be calling you to serve others, this day is designed to leave you feeling informed, encouraged and re-energised in your Christian mission.

We are looking for a practising Catholic who feels called to support our parish school by becoming a Foundation Governor. This is a wonderful ministry that helps shape the spiritual, moral and educational life of our children. Foundation Governors are appointed by the Archdiocese and play a key role in: • Protecting and promoting the Catholic ethos of the school • Supporting and challenging school leaders to ensure high standards • Helping set the school’s strategic direction • Ensuring Gospel values guide policies, decisions and daily life • Strengthening links between the parish, school and Diocese . If you feel called to support Catholic education and help shape the future of our wonderful school community, we would love to hear from you. Leaders from across Wales’ major faith communities have written a joint open letter to Members of the Senedd, pledging their prayers and support as the new Senedd begins its term, while warning against rising religious and ethnic prejudice amid what they describe as a period of “significant tension” across the United Kingdom. Find out more and read the letter on the Catholic Bishops of England and Wales website:
