Helping to serve throughout the Mass
Altar Servers
“If I serve with dignity and respect, it will help others to pray” - from the prayer that the Altar Servers say before each Mass, which sums up the importance of this ministry.
Serving at the altar is a centuries-old liturgical tradition. In our parish, we welcome anyone who has received his or her First Communion to become a Server - male or female, young or old. After a period of training, Servers are accepted into the Guild of St Stephen. All servers are expected to serve regularly and as needed over the weekend, Holy Days and at other Masses and services. However, we do our best to go accommodate other arrangements and activities in the Servers’ lives.
Our altar servers are co-ordinated by Cathy Mac, c.mac@sphilipevans.co.uk, assisted on Saturday evenings by Caru Parkes and on Sunday mornings by Pooja Varghese.
