Find Our Church

How to Find Us

There are various ways to reach St Philip Evans by Car or by Public transport. Here you will find some basic guidance on how to find us.
  • Public Transport

Arrive at Cardiff Central Station by coach or train.

You can reach the parish on "Cardiff Bus" service 57/57B or 58/58B or NAT bus route X1 (from Ely via Cardiff City Centre).

The bus will reach Llanederyn 20-25 minutes out from Cardiff City Centre. All the buses travel along Llanederyn Drive. As soon as you pass under a concrete bridge, signal for the bus to stop. When you alight, look ahead on the right side of the road for a blue pedestrian sign for St Philip Evans School. The entrance to the church grounds is immediately after that sign.

  • General Driving Instructions

If using satnav, enter the postcode CF23 9UL.

Alternatively, follow the directions from one of the three options below, which will get you to the Llanederyn exit of the A48.

Once you are on the interchange roundabout signed for “Llanederyn” (this is the opposite direction from Cardiff East & Docks), then go straight ahead across the small roundabout, and immediately get into the right hand lane, which soon allows you to turn right on to Llanederyn Drive. This is quite a long road, but as soon as you pass through a pair of chicanes in a dip, look ahead on the right side of the road for a blue pedestrian sign for St Philip Evans School (this is just after the second chicane).

The entrance gate to the church grounds is immediately after that sign; the church itself may be hidden by the hedge. There is a car-park straight ahead through the gates, but if your business is in the Presbytery, turn left as soon as you are through the gates, and the drive will bring you along the front of the church and to a small parking area at the front door of the residence.

  • Driving from Central Cardiff

From the centre of Cardiff, take the A48 towards the M4, either by going east on Newport Road (A4161) or joining the A48 directly as Eastern Avenue at the Gabalfa interchange. Exit the A48 at the turning signposted Cardiff East & Docks. The Llanederyn exit is the first exit from the interchange roundabout; then follow the directions above.

  • Driving from North or West of Cardiff

Travel to the east  side of Cardiff using the M4 Motorway. Exit at Junction 30. There, take the A4232 signposted Cardiff (E). Go straight ahead (2nd exit) at the next roundabout, and take the exit for Cardiff City Centre, signposted A48, at the following roundabout.

Leave the A48 at the second junction, signposted Cardiff East & Docks, but take the third exit from the interchange roundabout, signposted Llanederyn; then follow the directions above.

  • Driving from East of Cardiff

Travel to the Cardiff area using the M4 Motorway. Exit at Junction 29. There, take the A48 into Cardiff City Centre. Leave the dual carriageway at the third junction, signposted Cardiff East & Docks, but take the third exit from the interchange roundabout, signposted Llanederyn; then follow the directions above.
