World Day for the Poor
Sunday 15th November

World Day of the Poor - 15 November
A Call to See, Serve and Accompany
On 15 November, the Church will celebrate the World Day of the Poor, a reminder that our faith is lived out not only in prayer and worship but also in our care for those who are struggling. Pope Francis established this day to encourage Christians to encounter those experiencing poverty, loneliness, exclusion and hardship, recognising in them the face of Christ.
The day invites us to move beyond charity alone and foster genuine relationships built on dignity, solidarity and hope. In our own communities, many people face economic pressures, social isolation and uncertainty. The World Day of the Poor challenges us to ask how we can respond with compassion, practical support and a welcoming heart.
As a preparation for this important day, parishioners may wish to pray a 9-Day Novena for the World Day of the Poor, offering daily reflections and prayers for those in need and for a renewal of our commitment to serve our neighbours.

Let us pray that through our words, actions and generosity, we may become signs of God's love and hope for all who experience poverty and hardship.
"Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven." (Matthew 5:3)
