This Lent, live out the Gospel call to love your neighbour. By fasting and giving what you save, you join in Christ’s compassion and help another family put food on the table. Your donation can help families around the world grow food in difficult conditions – such as on flood-resistant floating gardens or using solar-powered water pumps in times of drought. Ways to donate to CAFOD Family Fast Day Use the envelopes at the back of church for our parish collection. Donate online at cafod.org.uk/envelope . Donate by phone: Call 0303 303 3030 and make a card payment over the phone. Donate by post: CAFOD, Romero House, 55 Westminster Bridge Road, London, SE1 7JB . Please make cheques payable to CAFOD and do not send cash in the post. You can also text CAFOD to 70560 to donate £10. Texts will cost the donation amount plus one standard network rate message, and you’ll be opting into hearing more from CAFOD. If you would like to donate but don’t wish to hear more from CAFOD, please text CAFODNOINFO instead.

A Pastoral Message to the Archdiocese of Cardiff-Menevia
January 23, 2026
Dear Parishioners of St Philip Evans Parish. A huge ‘THANK YOU’ for your generosity. The response to my appeal for Christmas Gifts for the seafarers I meet in the Port of Cardiff has fantastic. You have placed so many beautiful presents in the boxes. Since just before Christmas, I have passed on your gifts to over 70 seafarers and so far I have not used up half of what you have given to me. Many more seafarers this month and next will enjoy the chocolates, sweets and biscuits and be grateful for the toiletries and warm gloves, socks, hats and scarves. The seafarers I have already seen since Christmas have been amazed at your kindness and asked me to pass on their grateful thanks. On behalf of all the seafarers, thank you all very much indeed. Your gifts and your prayers are very much appreciated. Barbara Thomas Volunteer Ship Welfare Visitor for Stella Maris
