Annual Pilgrimage to the Grave of Saint John Kemble

 

This year’s Pilgrimage takes place on Sunday 23rd August 2026

 

10.15a.m.     Monmouth to Welsh Newton

Pilgrims set off to walk to Welsh Newton from

St Mary’s Church, Monmouth after 9.15 a.m. Mass.

Everybody welcome - bring a packed lunch.

 

3.00p.m.      Welsh Newton

We meet for Rosary, Readings and Prayers at

St. John Kemble’s Grave in the Churchyard at Welsh Newton.

 

4.15p.m.       Monmouth

             Benediction follows in St Mary’s Church, and afterwards tea will be served in the garden,

and produce sold.

 

 

People have prayed at St. John Kemble’s Grave from the time of his martyrdom in 1679 to the present day

 

The Annual Pilgrimage is a blessing for the Parish and all who come.

A national Catholic schools Art Competition is being held in the lead-up to Adoremus 2026 (Saturday 10 October), inviting young people to reflect creatively on themes such as the Blessed Sacrament, the presence of Jesus, and the beauty of our cathedrals. Entries are open to ages 6–18, with a winner in each age group and an overall prize, and should be submitted by 15 September 2026 . We warmly encourage schools and pupils to take part in this opportunity to pray, imagine, and create.

Members of the U.C.M are holding a Coffee Morning in the main hall on Tuesday 7th July between 10.00 am and 12 noon. Format will be as normal, and all proceeds will go to parish funds! Please join us for a couple of hours for coffee and relaxation!
