Article 18 Petition Appeal

July 15, 2026

from Aid to the Church in Need

People around the world continue to suffer simply because of the faith they hold dear — facing discrimination, violence, imprisonment and even death. Their freedom to believe, worship and live out their faith is a basic human right, yet for millions it remains out of reach — and they need us to be their voice.

That’s why Aid to the Church in Need (ACN) has launched its first-ever global religious freedom petition, calling on national governments and the United Nations to take urgent action to protect this fundamental right. At the heart of this campaign is Article 18 of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, which guarantees freedom of thought, conscience and religion — including the right to change one’s belief and to practise it openly or privately.

By signing, you are standing in solidarity with those who cannot speak freely for themselves and helping to send a powerful message that religious freedom must be protected everywhere, for everyone.

You can help our neighbours affected by the 24 June earthquakes in Venezuela with emergency shelter, water and food. CAFOD is already working with local Church partners to support people who have lost their homes, but we need your support to help more survivors. Your donation will provide essential supplies and help families rebuild their lives. Donate to the CAFOD-DEC Venezuela Earthquake Appeal today: cafod.org.uk/Venezuela or call 0300 999 0030. Please keep our neighbours in Venezuela in your prayers.
