Holy Orders

The Sacrament of Holy Orders

Holy Orders is the sacrament through which the mission entrusted by Christ to his apostles continues to be exercised in the Church until the end of time: thus it is the sacrament of apostolic ministry. It includes three degrees: episcopate, presbyterate, and diaconate. (1536)

Holy Orders

The Church needs priests! If you are Catholic, male, and not married, you are eligible! To find out how to become a priest to serve in the Archdiocese of Cardiff, check out the website or Facebook page.

Ordination...

Catholics understand that when a man is ordained, it is more than simply giving him a public role; it gives him the power to represent Jesus Christ in a way no lay man or woman can. All ordained ministers can bless "in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit." Ordained ministers are set apart for this work by a bishop blessing them with a laying-on of hands.
